Email templates

Save reusable email designs, start from a professional layout and edit it in the drag-and-drop builder, no code needed.

Find it in: Campaigns → Templates 20 steps

A template is an email design you keep in your library and reuse. Build it once, with your logo, colours and footer, and pick it whenever you create a campaign.

Every template is edited in the same drag-and-drop builder you use for campaigns: drag in blocks, click to change text and images, and preview it on desktop, tablet and mobile.

Find your templates

  1. Open the template library

Click Templates under Campaigns in the left sidebar (1). Your saved templates appear as cards with a live preview of the design. Point at a card to see Preview and Edit.

If you have not saved any yet, you see No templates yet. Click Create template (2) or Create your first template to begin.

  2. Search, filter and change the view

Use the bar at the top of the library:

    1. Search templates... finds a template by name.
    2. All categories shows only one category of design.
    3. Sort by date or Sort by name.
    4. Switch between Grid view (cards) and List view (rows).

Create a template

  1. Give it a name

Click Create template. In Template name, type a name that tells you what the design is for, such as Monthly newsletter or Product launch. You will see this name when you choose a template for a campaign.

  2. Pick a starting design

Under Start from a template, choose a gallery with the Base or Extended tab (1), then click the design you like (2). A purple border shows your choice. Use Next at the bottom of the gallery to see more designs.

To start from scratch, pick a simple layout such as Minimal or Simple Text and delete the blocks you do not need in the builder.

  3. Open the builder

Click Create & Design. The template is saved to your library and the drag-and-drop builder opens so you can start editing.

Design in the drag-and-drop builder

The builder fills the whole screen. It has the email in the middle, the editing panel on the right and a slim menu on the far right.

  1. Get to know the builder

    1. The canvas: your email, exactly as it will look.
    2. The Widgets tab: the blocks you can add.
    3. The side menu: Themes, Design, Import and Settings.
    4. Save: saves your work. The top bar says All changes saved when nothing is waiting.
  2. Add and arrange blocks

On the Widgets tab, drag a block such as Paragraph, Heading, Image, Button, Divider, Grid, Video Widget, Youtube or RSS onto the email and drop it where you want it. Scroll down the panel for ready-made Image & Text sections.

Click a block to select it; the small bar that appears above it has buttons to copy it and to delete it.

  3. Change how a block looks

Click a block on the canvas. The Element settings tab (1) opens with its options, for example the heading type, font, size, colour, alignment and spacing. Changes show on the canvas straight away.

  4. Edit text

Double-click any text to type in it. A toolbar appears for bold, italic, underline, alignment, colour and links. Select the words first to format only part of the text.

  5. Let the AI rewrite your text

Select some text and click the sparkle button at the end of the toolbar to open AI rewrite. Choose a quick action (Improve, Shorten, Expand, Simplify, Fix grammar, CTA-ify, Translate or Rewrite), pick a Tone and Length, or describe what you want under Custom instruction. Click Rewrite.

  6. Personalise with merge tags

Open the Merge tags tab (the { } icon). Click the copy button next to a tag, such as {{ SUBSCRIBER_FIRST_NAME }}, and paste it into your text. When the email is sent, each subscriber sees their own details in its place.

Keep {{ UNSUBSCRIBE_URL }} in your footer so people can always unsubscribe.

  7. Preview on desktop, tablet and mobile

Use the device buttons at the top to switch between Desktop, Tablet and Mobile. Most people read email on a phone, so check the mobile view before you save.

  8. Set page-wide styles

Click Settings in the side menu to style the whole email: the Block Gap between blocks, the Font Family, the Container Width, page and block padding, and background colours.

  9. Save or download your design

Click Save to keep working, or open the More actions menu (⋮) for:

    • Save & Close
    • HTML with Absolute Links: download one HTML file.
    • HTML with Assets (ZIP Package): download the HTML and all its images.
    • Close without saving

Import a design

There are two ways to bring in a design made elsewhere.

  1. Upload a theme package

In the builder, click Import in the side menu. Drag your .bundle.zip theme file onto the upload area, or click it to browse, then click Upload Theme.

  2. Paste your own HTML into a campaign

If you have a finished HTML email, create a campaign and, at the Template step, open the Your Custom HTML tab to paste your code. See Create and send a campaign in the Campaigns guide.

Preview, rename, copy or delete a template

Each template card in your library has a ⋯ menu next to its name.

  1. Preview a template

Point at a card and click Preview, or choose Preview in the ⋯ menu, to see the full email without opening the builder.

  2. Rename or copy a template

Choose Rename in the ⋯ menu, type the new Template name and click Save.

Choose Copy to make a duplicate. Enter a Name for the copy and click Create copy. The copy keeps all the content and design, so it is a quick way to make a variation.

  3. Delete a template

Choose Delete in the ⋯ menu and confirm.

Use a template in a campaign

  1. Pick your template at the Template step

When you create a campaign, the Template step opens the gallery. Click My templates (1) to see the designs you saved, then point at one and click Choose. The campaign gets its own copy, so you can change it freely without touching the saved template.

Common questions

If I edit a template, do my old campaigns change?

No. A campaign takes its own copy of the design when you choose the template, so later edits to the template do not change campaigns you have already created or sent.

Can I upload my own HTML as a template?

You can upload a theme package (.bundle.zip) with Import in the builder. To send an HTML email you already have, paste it into a campaign on the Your Custom HTML tab of the Template step.

How do I add my logo and images?

Drag an Image block onto the email, then click it to choose your picture and adjust it in the Element settings tab.

Why is the AI rewrite button missing or not working?

AI writing help depends on your plan and your AI credits. If you have used all your credits for this billing cycle, the AI cannot rewrite text until they renew.
